Lift Table Selection Guide

A lift table is a device used to raise, lower, stack, convey, transfer and/or position material between two or more elevations. The platform can be raised or lowered to any height desired within its travel range. This guide will help you through the ordering process by proving you some basic information to select the right lift table for your needs.

How to Order

What is the maximum total weight on the lift?
The capacity refers to the total weight to be placed on the lift. Be sure to include any fixtures, conveyors, or other accessories that might be fitted to the platform. Loads must be centered.

What size platform is needed to adequately support the load?
Determine the dimensions of the entire load. Make sure the lift platform isn’t too large causing the worker to have to stretch or reach for products. Consider a turntable for better ergonomics.

How high does the platform need to rise?
Don’t confuse lift travel with raised height.

Does the lift need to be portable or stationary?
Portable lift includes wheels or casters. One lift can be used in different areas. Transports loads up to a few thousand pounds with relative ease.
Stationary lift is designed for use on a flat, hard floor or even anchored down.

Does the lift need to be manual actuated (occasional lifting and lowering), powered (frequently raised or lowered), or automatic?
MANUAL OPERATION

Foot pump raises platform. To lower, open a valve with either a knob or a lever.

Hand pump raises platform. To lower, open a valve with either a knob or a lever.

Hand crank is available on mechanical/non-hydraulic lifts.

POWERED OPERATION
Electric motor – 1 and 3 phase with different voltages. 1 phase is usually the best for stationary lifts.
Battery – 12 volt. A good choice for portable lifts. Requires a 115-volt charger.
Pneumatic – requires a 80 PSI air supply.

AUTOMATIC OPERATION
Springs – automatically positions the top layer of goods to the desired elevation and maintains that position during loading/unloading. Springs are adjustable.
Pneumatic – automatically positions the load. Adjustments for different weights and load heights are made by increasing or decreasing the air pressure.

Other important information

The platform size can be no smaller than the base and legs that support it. Oversize platforms compatible with the legs and base are available and some models can be fitted with a turntable.
