Ladder Selection Guide

Ladders can be used for a variety of jobs around the shop, office or warehouse. This guide will provide the basic information to help identify which ladder best fits your needs by including details on frame construction, stairway slope, caster locks and step tread.

All of our ladders comply with OSHA and ANSI standards. Please note: California and portions of other areas may require special options such as higher handrails. Please check your local codes before ordering.

Construction Terms

Square Tube Construction provides exceptional durability with 40% greater strength than round tube construction and is ideal for heavy-duty applications.

Round Tube Construction

60 degree Standard Slope Ladder. Features a compact design with a shorter base length, which allows the ladder to fit into tighter spaces.

50 degree Stairway Slope Ladder. Allows users to turn and descend facing forward – compliant with ANSI code.

Retractable Spring-Loaded Casters. Casters retract automatically when weight is applied, allowing rubber tips to grip floor. Remove weight and ladder is ready to roll. Generally used on ladders with 5 steps or less.

Step Activated Caster Locks. Pressure on the bottom step activates release, placing legs firmly on the floor. Simply actuate foot pedal to raise the ladder onto casters for easy rolling.

Step Treads

Perforated Tread: general-purpose step for indoor applications
Grip Strut Tread: exceptional non-slip surface for outdoor or wet applications.
Steel Tread with Non-Slip Coating: for general-purpose office applications.
Ribbed Tread: general-purpose step with easy-care surface for quick clean-up.
